The contacts of competent authorities

The competent authority for executing official control in the field of animal protection is the veterinary inspection, namely the Veterinary Administration of the Republic of Slovenia (VURS). This administration is organised into 10 regional offices and 6 branch offices. You can find the contacts of the regional offices competent for executing supervisory control in your area on this LINK or call the Information on telephone directory of Slovenia on 1188.

If you notice any cases of animal tormenting outside of the working hours of your regional office and you assume that the animal is in danger, you can call 112 (Centre for informing, rescue team, fire fighters) that will connect you to the duty veterinary inspector. You can also turn to the police (113) or to the nearest police station whose contact information you can find HERE. We warn you that in accordance to Article 128 of the Telecommunications Act the Centre for informing as well as the police are recording the calls in order to be able to register and identify malevolent phone calls.

We know that all the knowledge can fail in the field when the situation is critical. That is why we highly recommend you to remember the number 112
